Collected my nuc from Raw Honey Co and couldn't be happier. The colony was strong, well populated, and exactly as described. Within a few weeks it was drawing comb and expanding rapidly. I'll definitely be returning for more colonies in the future

Question time

Nuc FAQ

What happens if the weather delays availability?

eekeeping is heavily influenced by weather and colony development. We will always prioritise the health of the bees and keep customers informed of any changes to collection dates.

Do your nucs sell out?

Yes. Our nucleus colonies are produced in limited numbers each season and are often reserved well before they are ready for collection. Early reservation is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment.

How soon should I transfer the bees into a hive?

We recommend transferring your nuc into its permanent hive as soon as practical after collection, ideally within a few days.

What is included with a nucleus

Each nucleus colony is supplied with a laying queen, brood at all stages, food stores, and a healthy population of worker bees. Our nucs are carefully managed to provide a strong foundation for a successful colony.

What type of hive are your nucs supplied on?

Our nucleus colonies are supplied on National frames and are designed to be transferred into a National hive.

When are your nucs available?

Availability depends on weather conditions and colony development throughout the season. Most nucs are available from late spring onwards, with collection dates confirmed once colonies are ready.

Are your queens naturally mated?

Yes. Our queens are naturally mated and selected from healthy, productive colonies with good temperament and performance.

Are your bees suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. We aim to produce calm, manageable colonies suitable for both new and experienced beekeepers.

How do I reserve a nuc?

Due to limited availability and high demand, we recommend reserving your nucleus colony as early as possible. A deposit may be required to secure your booking.

How do I collect my nuc?

Nucs are available for collection by arrangement. We will provide collection instructions and guidance to ensure your bees are transported safely.
